Spritz Americain

Tad Carducci has certificates from the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and a cocktail book under his belt (Tippling Bros. A Lime and Shaker: Discovering Mexican-Inspired Cocktails, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015). He loves this light spritzer, calling it an “American update to a European classic.” He says that fresh lemon and grapes give it an anti-oxidizing boost to ward off whatever winter throws at us. Carducci developed the recipe for JW Marriott, and the drink can be found on menus of their properties nationwide.
- 5 green seedless grapes
- 3 ounces dry vermouth
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- ¼ ounce maple syrup
- 2 ounces club soda, to top
- Lemon slice, for garnish
- Sliced green grapes, for garnish
Muddle grapes in a mixing tin. Add all remaining ingredients, minus soda. Shake until thoroughly mixed and strain over square cubes in a wine glass. Top with soda and stir. Garnish with dried lemon wheel and green grape slices.
