Meursault

About Meursault

Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, nestled between Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet, the Meursault Wine Region is one of the oldest and most cherished areas for Chardonnay production in all of Burgundy. In spite of the fact that there are no grand cru vineyards in Meursault, the top premier cru vineyards—Aux Perrières, Les Genevrières and Les Charmes—often rank alongside the great grand cru sites of neighboring villages. While Pinot Noir is produced in Meursault, the region’s claim to fame is its noble Chardonnay-based wines. Marked by vibrant acidity and an inherent roundness imparted by the chalk- and marl-rich soils, the white wines are typically filled out with flavors of orchard fruit, crushed stone and sweet oak nuances.
