Vin de Pays de L'Herault

About Vin de Pays de L'Herault

While Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon may be the most respected wine producing regions in southern France, Vin de Pays wines are continually gaining attention by consumers. With the consistent Mediterranean climate (the entire wine producing area lies on the coast of the Mediterranean sea) and limestone ridden soils, the Vin de Pays de l’Hérault Wine Region has become one of the standout Vin de Pays areas in southern France. Like the rest of southern France, the wines are commonly blends of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. But rather than being required to adhere to stringent AOP regulations, the Vin de Pays de L’Hérault designation has more lenient requirements, including the authorized use of international varietals in the blends.
