Wine Enthusiast is committed to showcasing the incredible, diverse talents in our industry who are helping to positively evolve and broaden the wine, spirits and beer landscape for all of us. This growth and evolution of the space is part of what makes being a wine lover today so exciting. We’ll continue to highlight more personalities, stories and perspectives that point to that positive change and result in more great pours on your table.

The Black community is indispensable to America’s food and drinks culture. Unfortunately, systemic discrimination has added layers of hurdles to business ownership in hospitality and all fields. Support for those businesses is integral to any efforts for equity in our industry.

To help interested consumers channel their spending power to Black-owned businesses in the food and drinks space, we’ve aggregated a list of resources being compiled by individuals and communities across the country. While hardly exhaustive, we hope we can use our platform to help amplify the visibility of these businesses to Wine Enthusiast readers, as well as highlight the tireless work being done by others to compile these resources.

To share additional assets to include in this list, please email email@example.com.
Black-owned wine, spirits and beer

67 Black Owned Wineries - Robin and Andréa McBride (@mcbridesisters)
10 Black-Owned Distilleries Making Some of America’s Finest Bottles - Kara Newman for Wine Enthusiast
The Best Black-Owned Breweries In The U.S. - DeAnna Taylor for Travel Noire
These Black-Owned Breweries Give Us Hope for the Future - Ale Sharpton for Thrillist
Diversity Your Palate with Travels of a #BlackBeerTraveler - Brandon Montgomery of @BlackBeerTravelers via Google Maps
A Global Guide to Black-Owned Wine Labels - Wine Enthusiast
13 Black-Owned Drinks Businesses to Check Out - Mark Stock for The Manual
Where are all the Black-owned wineries in the Pacific Northwest? - Adria Saracino for The Emerald Palate

Nonprofits providing resources to Black hospitality workers and entrepreneurs

Food Education Fund: A New York City-based nonprofit that offers job training and a paid internship program to culinary public high school students.
The Okra Project: “The Okra Project is a collective that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People wherever we can reach them.”
11 Charities And Organizations That Support Black Lives Matter And Diversity In The Food Industry - Kristin Salaky for Delish

Black-owned restaurant lists organized by region, state and city

EatOkra App: A mobile guide to Black-owned restaurants across the U.S.
101 Black Owned Restaurants You Need To Try In All 50 States! - Jarett for Black Excellence
Lists of black-owned food businesses - source unknown
Black-Owned Businesses to Support—Now & Always - Food52
Support Black Businesses - Cherry Bombe
Black-Owned Restaurant Lists Circulating the Internet, Organized by City - Bon Appétit
How to Support Black-Owned Restaurants Right Now - Vice Munchies
How to Support Black-Owned Restaurants in Your Community - Food & Wine

Below are lists and spreadsheets of Black-owned restaurants and bars specific to U.S. cities and organized by the following regions: Northeast, South/Southeast, Midwest, Northwest, West/Southwest (If you don’t see your city here, check one of the above lists or search #blackownedrestaurants on Instagram).
Northeast

Brooklyn, NY: Black-Owned Brooklyn: “A curated guide to black brooklyn’s people, places and products.” - Tayo Giwa and Cynthia Gordy Giwa
New York, NY: Black-Owned Restaurants in New York City by Hannah Goldfield of The New Yorker and Rachel Karten and Joseph Hernandez of Bon Appétit
Boston, MA: Here are 60+ Black-owned restaurants to support in the Greater Boston area - Erin Kuschner for Boston.com
Philadelphia, PA: 28 Black-Owned Restaurants to Support in Philadelphia - Visit Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA: Philadelphia Black-Owned Restaurants You Can Order From Right Now - Alex Tewfik for Philadelphia Magazine
Pittsburgh, PA: List of Black owned and operated restaurants - The Vandal (@thevandalpgh)
Providence, RI: Top Black-Owned Restaurants In Providence, Rhode Island - Leah Freeman-Haskin for Travel Noire
Maine: Black-Owned Maine - @roseofbom and @realgeniusblack

South/Southeast

Baltimore, MD: Black-Owned Food Businesses to Support in the Baltimore Area - Lauren Cohen for Baltimore magazine
Washington, D.C.: DC's Black-Owned Restaurants Open During COVID-19 - Anela Malik for feedthemalik.com
Nashville, TN: Nashville Black Small Businesses to Support
Charleston, SC: Black Owned restaurants Google Map in Charleston, SC - KJ Kearney
Charlotte, NC: 50 black-owned shops, restaurants and studios in Charlotte - Deanna Taylor for CharlotteFive
Memphis, TN: Memphis Black-Owned Restaurants Guide - Edible Memphis
Louisville, KY: Black-Owned Restaurants You Need to Try - Louisville Scoop
Atlanta, GA: 50 Outstanding Black-Owned Restaurants in Atlanta - Trisha Pintavorn for Atlanta Eats
New Orleans, LA: Five Multigenerational Black Owned Businesses to Visit in New Orleans - Summer Suleiman for Go NOLA
Little Rock, AR: 150+ Black-Owned Businesses to Support in Little Rock - Jess Ardrey for Little Rock Soirée
Central Arkansas: 100 Black-Owned Eateries in Central Arkansas - The Mighty Rib (@themightyrib)
Miami, FL: Eat like a local at Miami-Dade’s black-owned restaurants.
